Shedeur Sanders becomes the scandal of the 2025 NFL Draft, after 3 rounds; how much will he lose?

The second day of the 2025 NFL Draft is history and the news remains the future of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was originally projected as a first-round talent and, for some reason that has spread to the 32 recruiting teams’ camps, after three rounds and 102 picks, has not been called by anyone

The situation for the eldest son of the legendary Deion Sanders is already dramatic, as his talent has plummeted beyond the first three rounds, not to mention the millions of dollars this disdain from teams means or his chance to become an immediate impact talent, because except in exceptional cases, teams do not look for a starting quarterback in the lower rounds of the Draft.

At the start of the day, Sanders was considered the ‘best talent available’ and was expected to be taken by the Cleveland Browns considering they had picks one and four in the second round. However, they passed on him, as did the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday with pick 21 and the New Orleans Saints with pick nine. But now, after this day, the question is whether any of the teams will dare to take him in any of the rounds that follow on Saturday

Whatever happens on Saturday, Shedeur Sanders‘ distrust must be tremendous after the message sent to him by the league’s teams. One point in his favor is that he is patiently waiting for a call that will end his anxiety

In addition, there are still three teams in need of a quarterback, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders, although they have already passed on him for three rounds (the Steelers did not have a second round pick)

Shedeur Sanders’ final year in Colorado

In 2024, Sanders completed 353 of 477 passes for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, plus he had four rushing scores, enough to earn the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation’s top quarterback, plus he was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Big 12 first team.

This year, the Buffaloes retired the jersey of Sanders’ No. 2 and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter’s No. 12, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the second overall pick.

The fortune Shedeur Sanders lost by passing up the first round

In terms of money, missing out on the first round cost Shedeur Sanders millions, an unimportant but no less important issue for his prestige as a player

If Shedeur had been selected with the first overall pick, as was speculated at one point, he would have earned $48 million with his rookie deal. But by falling to the second round, his maximum salary would have been $11 million.

But much of this was brought on by the player himself, who decided not to attend the Scouting Combine in March to formally show himself to the 32 teams. In addition, several reports indicate that the teams that interviewed him as a prospect did not have favorable conclusions and do not want to deal with the media pressure of having Deion Sanders on them
