Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter take an unconventional approach to NFL Draft prep at Colorado Pro Day

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place at Green Bay’s iconic Lambeau Field, with the first round kicking off on April 24th. All eyes are on the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 pick and appear poised to select Miami’s Cam Ward, a quarterback who dazzled at the Hurricanes’ pro day. If selected, Ward would become the 40th quarterback taken first overall in NFL Draft history, a testament to his 2024 season in which he threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. But while Ward’s stock soars, the spotlight now shifts to Colorado’s Pro Day, where two former Buffaloes under Deion Sanders, the dual-threat Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, are ready to boost their draft stock. With the draft just weeks away, this showcase could solidify their spots among the top picks.

A Heartfelt Reunion Before for a Big Day

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, inseparable during their time at Colorado, reunited before the Buffaloes’ pro day with big grins and warm hugs, a moment captured in a video that’s making the rounds. Both are expected to be taken early in the draft, likely by the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 or the New York Giants at No. 3, depending on team needs. Here, both prove that their friendship goes far beyond the field, as they have been together for many years since playing at Jackson State.

Hunter to the Giants would be a dream scenario, pairing him with Malik Nabers to form a dynamic receiving duo for the newly signed Russell Wilson. Shedeur, meanwhile, could land with the Browns, a team desperate to move on from the Deshaun Watson experiment – something even the owner has admitted hasn’t panned out. Personally, I think the Browns should grab Sanders, but if they pass, the New Orleans Saints could be a dark horse. With a fresh, young coach in Kellen Moore and a franchise that hasn’t seen the playoffs since Drew Brees retired in 2020, Sanders could spark a revival and push Derek Carr in a healthy competition.

Sanders and Hunter: A Legendary Run at Colorado

Together, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter turned Colorado into a must-watch program, and their chemistry was electric over 22 games. Sanders connected with Hunter on 153 catches for nearly 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, a connection that lit up the field. In 2024, Hunter cemented his legacy, setting a Colorado single-season record with 14 touchdown receptions and becoming the first Buffalo to record four consecutive 100-yard receiving games. He was equally dominant on defense, recording seven interceptions in two seasons and winning the Heisman Trophy as the nation’s top player.

Sanders, meanwhile, rewrote the Buffaloes’ record books, setting program highs in passing yards, touchdowns and completions. In 24 games at Colorado, he completed nearly 72% of his passes for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns, averaging over 300 yards per game with a single-game high of 510 yards.

Colorado’s Pro Day, dubbed the “We Ain’t Hard 2 Find Showcase,” is more than a workout – it’s a celebration of what Sanders and Hunter have built together. They transformed a struggling program, taking it from a 1-11 record in 2022 to 9-4 and a top-25 ranking in 2024. Now, as they prepare to face off as NFL rivals, this event marks the end of an era. With NFL Network broadcasting live on April 4, Sanders is expected to throw and Hunter will likely catch passes from his college quarterback, giving scouts one last look at their magic.
