Shannon Sharpe, former NFL tight end and current media figure, is facing a $50 million lawsuit after a woman identified as Jane Doe accused him of repeated sexual assaults during what she described as a toxic and controlling relationship.
Filed in Nevada on Sunday, the civil suit outlines a disturbing timeline of events beginning in 2023 when Doe, then 20 years old, says she met Sharpe at a Los Angeles gym.
According to the documents, Sharpe, then in his mid-50s, made lewd comments during their initial meeting and allegedly told her he would “buy her fake t**s” if she beat him in a weight-loss contest.
What followed, according to Doe, was an intense and manipulative relationship. She claims Sharpe persistently messaged and called her, insisting she visit his Beverly Glen mansion. While their relationship began consensually, Doe described it as controlling and verbally abusive, alleging Sharpe demanded full control over her schedule and body.
Chilling details
The suit includes a chilling moment where Sharpe allegedly threatened her life. During an argument, Doe says she tried to share her location with friends out of fear, prompting Sharpe to grab her by the neck and threaten to kill her if she did it again.
Both parties later moved to Nevada, but Doe claims the abuse escalated. She alleges the first rape occurred in October 2024, at her apartment, describing it as a violent act committed while she cried and begged him to stop. A second alleged assault followed in January 2025, after Sharpe visited under the pretense of bringing gifts.
Doe is seeking more than $50 million in damages. Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, called the case “an act of courage,” vowing to pursue it vigorously in court.
Sharpe has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
