The boxing world has been ignited with a new and explosive war of words between champions. Despite silencing his critics with a decisive victory over William Zepeda, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson finds himself once again at the center of controversy. This time, the challenge comes not from pundits or fans, but from another champion: Teofimo Lopez.

The rivalry between Stevenson and Lopez has been simmering for some time and has recently intensified on social media.Lopez, the super lightweight champion, sent out a provocative tweet in which he not only challenged Stevenson, but also mentioned Ryan Garcia.

The exchange of messages on X

“After I beat up @ShakurStevenson and make him cry like the p*ssy he is… I’ll challenge @RyanGarcia,” Lopez wrote, prompting an angry response from Stevenson, who warned he would not stand idly by.

Stevenson’s response was not long in coming and true to his style, he was direct and further ignited a rivalry in which everyone expects it to end with a fight between the two. “Look, if I slap you at the press conference, I’ll be wrong,”

Ryan Garcia joins the conflict triangle

The inclusion of Ryan Garcia in the controversy was no coincidence. The 28-year-old boxer had previously claimed in an interview that he would easily knock out Teofimo Lopez, considering himself “The Takeover’s” kryptonite. These comments, backed up by his promoter Oscar De La Hoya’s opinion that a fight between Garcia and Lopez would make more sense than a rematch, have further fueled the fire for this potential contest.

The escalation of tensions on social media suggests that the rivalry between Stevenson and Lopez is ready to move to the next level, with Ryan Garcia as an unexpected player in the equation. Boxing fans are now eagerly awaiting to see if this war of words will translate into an epic showdown in the ring. The prospect of a clash between any of these three boxers at the top of their careers would be a must-see event for the sport.
