Seth Curry injury update prolongs Stephen Curry’s frustration with the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will have to wait longer to see Stephen Curry share the floor with his younger brother, as Seth Curry‘s recovery from a lingering sciatic nerve injury continues without a clear return date.

Stephen recently added another chapter to the Curry family legacy. Three weeks ago, he knocked down a three-pointer that moved him past Joe “Jellybean” Bryant and Kobe Bryant for second place on the NBA’s all-time father-son scoring list, placing himself and his father, Dell Curry, firmly in the record books.

Yet one personal milestone still eludes him. He has yet to play a meaningful NBA minute alongside Seth.

That moment will not come soon. The Golden State Warriors issued another medical update confirming that Seth’s comeback remains a work in progress.

“Seth Curry, who has missed the last 18 games due to a Sciatic nerve-related injury, was recently re-evaluated,” the team said. “The re-evaluation indicated that Curry is making good progress. He has progressed to various on-court workouts-in addition to his daily rehab work-and will be re-evaluated again in two weeks.”

The update offered optimism, but no certainty. It closely mirrored the message released on January 11, and Seth has not appeared in a game since December 4.

The overlap that hasn’t happened

When Golden State re-signed Seth in early December after he had been waived during preseason due to financial constraints, the storyline seemed ready-made. Two brothers, both veterans, finally sharing an NBA court late in their careers. Instead, timing has repeatedly worked against them.

Seth has played in only two games since joining the roster, and in an unfortunate twist, those were the only two contests Stephen missed because of injury. The overlap fans hoped for never materialised.

“It feels like a good time in both of our careers for me to be here,” Seth said earlier this season, reflecting on the opportunity to finally play alongside his older brother.

While Seth continues his rehab, the load on Stephen Curry has quietly grown heavier. Golden State has been stretched thin since Jimmy Butler was lost for the season with an ACL injury, removing another creator from the offence and leaving Stephen with even more responsibility.
