Since retiring from professional tennis in 2022, Serena Williams has fully embraced the role of a mother.
The tennis icon, who welcomed her first daughter Olympia in 2017, expanded her family with the birth of her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in 2023.
Over the past few years, Williams has shared heartwarming glimpses of her life as a mom, showcasing both the joys and challenges that come with raising two young children.
In a recent interview with People Magazine on November 28th, Williams opened up about her experiences as a mother of two, reflecting on the unexpected emotions that came with the arrival of her second child. She admitted that, at first, she was concerned about whether she could love another child as much as her firstborn.
“Olympia was a solo child,” Williams shared with People Magazine.
“I thought, ‘How do I even love anyone as much as Olympia?'”
But when Adira was born, Williams realized that a mother’s heart only grows with time.
“It’s so funny how, I don’t know, just your heart gets bigger,” she explained.
Adira, now 15 months old, is already becoming a social media sensation, appearing frequently in posts shared by Serena.
Although she has her own Instagram profile, the toddler’s presence is often featured on Serena’s account, as the tennis star shares moments of Adira’s early milestones.
Olympia: the family’s bright star
While Adira is making her mark, Serena’s firstborn, Olympia, continues to be the star of the Williams-Ohanian family. Serena openly admits her deep affection for her six-year-old daughter, describing her as “our star”.
“I am so obsessed with Olympia.”
From sports to crafts, Olympia’s interests seem endless, and she continues to capture her parents’ hearts with her energy and creativity.
One recent memorable family outing involved Alexis Ohanian and Olympia visiting Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on November 27th. The father-daughter duo enjoyed a fun-filled day in the immersive world of Batuu.
The experience took a thrilling turn when they encountered the notorious First Order. Rather than being scared, Olympia stood her ground in a brave fighting stance, leaving Alexis in awe.
“I was so proud of her for this reaction to being kidnapped by The First Order,” he posted on Twitter.
