The Olympic friendship between two of the most outstanding female athletes in history brings us a curious and amusing story.
Serena Williams and Simone Biles have become very close, so much so that the 23-time Grand Slam winner didn’t hesitate to joke and tease her on social media with a question.
On her official Instagram account, Williams shared the amazing view she has from her boat while enjoying a relaxing vacation with her family. However, she didn’t miss the opportunity to tease the winner of 11 Olympic medals. Along with the video, she wrote “Jealous?” and tagged Biles.
Of course, Simone didn’t stay silent. She reposted Serena’s story and responded with complete honesty: “girllllllllllll yes,” followed by a broken heart and crying emoji, and then “just you wait” and a fist emoji.

Their friendship has been forged over time, and they admire each other.
In 2021, Williams paid tribute to the gymnast in TIME, saying that she reflects “the endless potential of Black women.” She also highlighted her strength: “Simone is a shining example of what success looks like when you let go of what the world thinks and gather your strength from yourself.”
Last year, Biles met Serena’s eldest daughter, Olympia, on the Gold Over America tour. Alexis Ohanian, husband of the tennis legend, shared this moment on his Instagram account, thanking Simone for welcoming them.
This year, they met again after both athletes were named to the TIME 100 list and attended the prestigious gala at Lincoln Center in New York.
There, Serena shared photos of the event on her Instagram account alongside Scarlett Johansson, whom she highlighted as “her favorite Avenger,” and Simone Biles as her “new doubles partner.” And as if that weren’t enough, the gymnast responded: “Coming soon to a court near you.”
Recently, the two met again at the 2025 Met Gala and shared a conversation with Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens. Without a doubt, their friendship is one of the best things that sport has given them.
