Serena Williams has worked hard and faced adversity throughout her entire life, and particularly during her incredibly successful tennis career.
That being said, everyone needs a little break sometimes, and for Serena, raising children is much tougher than becoming the best in the world in tennis.
She recently admitted on X to taking a very brief break from her seven-year-old daughter Olympia, whom she shared with husband Alexis Ohanian.
“I’m in my car…. my Navigator To be exact,” Serena wrote in an April 18 message on X (formerly Twitter). “I’ve got the Massage seats on. I’m sadly Hiding from my kid.”
The 43-year-old Serena also has 20-month-old daughter Adira with Alexis and she added that she has been on parenting duty all day because the kids are off school.
“Today is a holiday and no school. Judge away,” Serena quipped. “I don’t care I need 10 mins.”
Serena Williams knows she is a good mom
Clearly Olympia needs a lot of entertainment when she is not at school and Serena is struggling to keep up. She backs her skills as a parent, though.
“I’m a wonderful mom,” Serena told Vogue in 2022. “I think we, as women, don’t give ourselves credit, but I’m a great mom. I really am. I do everything. I’m freaking the room mom at Olympia’s school this year.”
Whilst she has plenty of confidence in her parenting abilities, Williams did speak openly about her mental health struggles in 2023, admitting that she was ‘not ok’.
“And that’s ok to not be ok,” she continued in a post on X at the time. “No one is ok every single day. If you are not ok today I’m with you.”
She added: “There’s always tomorrow. Love you.”
