Scottie Scheffler will still be the world’s number 1 golfer, as he celebrated winning his eighth title of the year by capturing the FedEx Cup on Sunday in dominating fashion and he received a prize of $25 million to cap it all off.
Scheffler, who this year had already won the Augusta Masters and the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, won the Tour Championship, the last act of the PGA Tour playoffs, and won the FedEx Cup.
Whit this he accumulated a total of $62,228,357 just for his coronations in 2024, the year in which he already equaled the record of his compatriot Tiger Woods, who in 2007 added seven PGA Tour titles.
The money and the crown
With his coronation in Atlanta, the 28-year-old golfer has accumulated earnings of $104,793,586 and is close to the $120,999,166 that Tiger Woods earned on the PGA Tour, something to talk about for sure.
“It was an exciting and perfect week, which ended with a beautiful victory. Explaining in words the year that has passed is something really complicated. It was a fantastic and memorable season, and for that I have to thank my family and my team,” Scheffler said.
The Americangolfer, who has spent 103 weeks as number 1 in the world including 68 consecutively, also stands out for the third year in a row as the player who has earned the most money on the American circuit after reaching 13 titles on the PGA Tour.
