Scottie Scheffler equals a Tiger Woods milestone in a dominant season

Scottie Scheffler has become the leading figure in modern golf, often recalling Tiger Woods’ dominance when he reigned over every course. Woods now moves at a slower pace due to injuries and relies on the legacy built during his years of glory.

Yet Scheffler is gradually closing the gap, sometimes achieving historic milestones without leaving the comfort of his home.

The statistic Scottie Scheffler just achieved, tying Tiger Woods

Scheffler burst onto the golf scene determined to leave a lasting mark, and his list of accomplishments continues to grow. He already owns 19 PGA Tour titles, including four majors and an Olympic gold medal, proof that he has arrived to be great. His 2025 season confirms that trajectory, as he has now secured a statistic that places him alongside Tiger Woods.

It was confirmed that Scheffler finished the year with the best scoring average of 2025. At 29, he commands several statistical categories, strokes gained, total and tee-to-green, and adds this new achievement, calculated across all four days of weekend events. The New Jersey-born golfer posted the top average on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in every tournament he played this year.

Tiger last accomplished this 25 years ago, in 2000, when the man widely considered the greatest in golf dominated this same metric. Scheffler’s current averages stand at 67.45 in the first round, 68.00 in the second, 68.40 in the third and 68.10 in the final round.

I think in the simplest form, I think it’s very silly to be compared to Tiger Woods.

He said at the Tour Championship in August, adding.

I think Tiger is a guy that stands alone in the game of golf, and I think he always will. Tiger inspired a whole generation of golfers. You’ve grown up watching that guy do what he did week in, week out. It was pretty amazing to see.

Scottie Scheffler

My biggest takeaway from playing with Tiger was the amount of intensity that he took to every shot, and that’s something I’ve talked to a lot of guys about.

Scheffler said at the Tour Championship after he and Woods played together at the 2020 Masters.

We’re in 20th place or whatever going into Sunday at the Masters. Tiger has won five Masters, he’s got no chance of winning the tournament.”…”Then we showed up on the first hole and I was watching him read his putt, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this guy is in it right now.

It may seem unlikely for Scheffler to match Woods, but he still has time, and if he stays healthy, he could surprise the sport’s followers, who continue to enjoy his brilliance on the course.
