Savannah James avoids discussing Caitlin Clark while giving nod to A’ja Wilson with daughter Zhuri

Savannah James recently offered a sweet and stylish glimpse into her life as a mom and basketball fan, spotlighting her daughter Zhuri‘s emerging passion for the game and her standout sneaker style.

In a post on Instagram, Savannah shared a photo of Zhuri in her youth basketball outfit, stepping confidently in mismatched sneakers that paid tribute to WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson.

The colorful combination and supportive caption speak volumes, especially as Caitlin Clark continues to draw widespread media attention.

Zhuri grabbed everyone’s attention by wearing one Pink A’ura shoe and one Indigo Girl shoe-both signature styles from Wilson‘s Nike A’One line.

The mismatched colors created a playful yet purposeful homage to the three time WNBA MVP and Las Vegas Aces icon.

In her post, Savannah tagged Wilson and added pink and blue heart emojis-a nod to the shoes-making it clear the moment was meant to celebrate Wilson’s influence.

A’ja’s impact beyond the court

This is not the first time the James family has shown affection for the Las Vegas Aces star.

Savannah and LeBron were spotted cheering courtside during a 2024 Aces matchup with the New York Liberty, demonstrating their respect for women’s basketball at the professional level.

And while Savannah’s latest post does not mention Caitlin Clark, it powerfully puts another female athlete in the spotlight-and shows how the lines between fandom and family continue to blur.

Wilson has long been compared to LeBron James and she understands the weight that title carries. “It’s a heavy crown,” she once admitted. “But I try to wear it with grace.”

That grace and poise clearly resonate with the James family. And because of that, young Zhuri is learning early that women in sports can be strong role models both on and off the court.

A’ja Wilson is a dominant force for the Aces. She led the league in rebounds and earned her third regular season MVP award in May 2024.

She has lifted the Aces to multiple Western Conference championships and won three WNBA titles.

In 2023 alone, she recorded the first 30 point triple double in WNBA history, showing her blend of skill and power.

Wilson now stands fifth all time in WNBA career rebounds and continues to break milestones. That type of consistent elite play makes her a compelling inspiration for young fans like Zhuri.

Savannah James‘s curated moment offers a unique look into how the James household engages with women’s sports.

Instead of publicly joining the Caitlin Clark craze, Savannah chose to shine a light on a fellow athlete whose influence she admires.

The choice speaks volumes about the depth of appreciation that elite women’s athletes are earning, even in a sports world where headlines often spotlight rookies.

By letting Zhuri’s outfit do the talking, Savannah amplified a simple message: there is room for celebration of all basketball excellence.

Players like A’ja Wilson, whose legacy grows with each court appearance, are meaningful role models.

As women’s basketball continues its ascent, moments like this one show how sports traditions and fandoms develop in family settings, one mismatched sneaker at a time.

In many ways, the James family’s latest gesture is a reminder that the impact of women’s sports can be both generational and personal.

Through Zhuri’s colorful tribute, Savannah James is helping shape the next generation of sports fans.
