The Chicago Sky snapped a three-game losing streak Sunday, June 15 marking a pivotal moment in their 2025 WNBA campaign. Angel Reese‘s performance stole headlines, as did more pointedly, Satou Sabally‘s reaction to it.
Reese recorded her first career triple-double in the win, posting 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in a 78-66 triumph over the Connecticut Sun, and became the second-youngest player in WNBA history to accomplish the feat, trailing only Caitlin Clark.
The performance drew praise from around the league, but it was the Phoenix Mercury forward who gave a succinct, one-word message to the 23-year-old that stood out the most.
“Amen,” Sabally posted to X.com, formerly Twitter in a simple remark that quickly gained traction, resonating with fans and sparking discussion across social media.
One fan wrote in response, “Her love is what I didn’t expect at all. Both of them will fight on court but respect themselves.”
A second said, “This!!!!!”
And a third commented, “She is ah-mazing!”
Reese sets records in playmaker role for Sky
The timing of Sabally‘s remark also matters. Reese‘s triple-double comes amid a challenging start to the season for the Sky, who now sit at 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the Commissioner’s Cup standings.
Despite the team’s struggles, the Chi Barbie is showing signs of elevated play in her second season. She’s currently leading the league in rebounding at 11.9 per game and has improved her assists from 1.9 per game in 2024 to 3.5 this year.
“I was a passer, and I could’ve been a passer all my career,” Reese said of her uptake in assists. “I came out of high school as the No. 1 wing, and I’m trying to get back to that – trying to get back to being super-versatile.
“And [coach] Tyler [Marsh] made that emphasis early on in the season.”
It’s a direction that seems to be paying off. Along with her rebound dominance, Reese is playing a more complete role for the Sky and building on an already record-setting young career.
She’s the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds, achieving the feat in just 38 games. She also owns the fastest path to 30 career double-doubles.
Meanwhile, Sabally‘s voice, quiet as it was, lent legitimacy to Reese‘s breakout moment in the league as young talent continue to take over the scene, making recognition such as Satou’s even more notable.
Chicago faces the Washington Mystics next in their final Commissioner’s Cup game, which will take place on Tuesday, June 17 at the Wintrust Arena in the Windy City.
The Sky will look to hunt down their fourth victory of the campaign and move level with the Mystics, who boast a 4-7 record and sit fourth in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference.
