Saquon Barkley’s curious and gigantic gift to Eagles teammates for winning the Super Bowl

The Philadelphia Eagles are in full celebration mode after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, and star running back Saquon Barkley is making the occasion a big one.

In what was his first season with the team, Barkley managed to lead the NFL in rushing yards in the regular season. Although he was somewhat kept in check with just 57 yards on 25 carries in the Super Bowl, it didn’t matter as the Eagles stamped their authority with a 40-22 win over the Chiefs.

With the Lombardi Trophy now back in Philadelphia, Barkley made sure to pay tribute to the men behind his success: his offensive line.

In an attempt to show his gratitude to his linemen, NBC10 sports reporter John Clark has revealed that Barkley has bought each of them a tractor-trailer filled with Bud Light.

It’s believed that each truck contains 90 cases of Bud Light each, which comes out to 2,160 cans. That’s a can for nearly every yard that Barkley gained on the ground in 2024.

Taking things one step further, the same report goes on to add that the Bud Light moniker would be changed to Bird Light in honor of the Eagles’ success for Friday’s parade.

Barkley the difference maker for the Eagles

In the end Barkley proved to be a huge difference-maker for the Eagles after joining from the rival New York Giants.

After signing a three-year, $37.75 million deal, Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards in the regular season. He came within 101 yards from breaking the all-time regular season rushing mark set by Eric Dickerson of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1980s.

He also finished with 499 rushing yards in the postseason, which set a new NFL record for most total rushing yards in a season.

His performance helped the Eagles win their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history, though if they want to repeat next year, they’ll have to do so without a key piece.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has already departed to take over the head coaching role with the New Orleans Saints. While Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni tried to keep him by telling him they should run it back, the opportunity to run his own team proved too good for Moore.
