As MLB’s trade deadline nears, Manny Machado addressed swirling rumors about potential roster shaekups in San Diego. Rather than fueling speculation, the veteran star offered a firm, confident message: this team is special, and he’s focused on what they can accomplish together. Just last night, that special mentioned was on full display against another top team in baseball in the New York Mets.

Machado dismisses distractions in confidence

Machado has seen trade talk come and go, but this season, he’s tuning it out. Speaking to Fox 5 San Diego, he made it clear he’s not worried:

“We have such a special group of men in our clubhouse…whoever comes in is going to fit right in…we are going to do something special this year.”

His response reflected a belief in the team’s chemistry and a determination to stay locked in, no matter what moves are made around the league.

Padres eye moves, but not a fire sale

The Padres, 58-49 before today’s game agains the Mets, are still in the playoff hunt, sitting second in the NL West. While names like Dylan Cease are drawing trade interest, reports suggest the team isn’t looking to tear down.

Instead, they may target outfield help -players like Jarren Duran or Ramón Laureano– to bolster the roster without disrupting the core. Machado’s message? The Padres are ready for whatever comres, but they’re not rattled.
