Keegan Bradley’s win at the Travelers Championship last weekend didn’t just earn him another trophy – it complicated his Ryder Cup job description. Already named captain of Team USA for this September’s showdown in Italy, Bradley now looks set to play, too.
That victory bumped him into the world’s top 10 and closer to an automatic Ryder Cup qualification spot. So the question becomes: Can he really pull double duty?

Is Tiger the Answer If Bradley Plays?
The idea of Woods taking over has gained traction with fans, but not everyone thinks it’s realistic. Speaking with talkSPORT, golfing legend Laura Davies cast doubt on the possibility.
“I don’t think Tiger would like to be the captain in those circumstances,”Davies said.“That’s what the vice captains are for – you pick them knowing they can step in if needed.”
Bradley’s staff already includes former Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and longtime team figure Fred Couples. Davies sees Furyk as the natural fit if the captain’s chair needs a backup during tournament week.
Bradley himself seems open to playing both roles. After the win in Cromwell, he admitted it wasn’t the original plan – but things have changed. “I had this epiphany at the PGA Championship,”Bradley said in a post-round interview with Golf Channel. “The energy, the USA chants… I started thinking, maybe I should be out there.”
Still, the logistics are tricky. Captains handle media, strategy, team pairings, and everything in between. Playing is hard enough – doing both could stretch even the most experienced veteran. Davies doesn’t see it working smoothly. “During the week, there’s so much going on,” she said. “You can’t give 100% to both. If anything, Bradley should just focus on playing and let someone like Jim handle the rest.”
For now, nothing’s official – but the Ryder Cup just got a lot more interesting.
