Ryan Garcia promises to stay sober and apologizes for what he said about George Floyd

American boxer Ryan Garcia wants to put the swamp of controversy behind him as he nears the end of his year-long ban for testing positive for ostarine after his fight with Devin Haney

And his proclivity to not keep quiet, stay low profile and focused on the only thing he should be concerned about, which is his training and fitness, still got him into trouble at the end of last year when he made racist comments of which he now says he is sorry and in which he spoke of George Floyd in yet another outburst that cost him sympathy.

‘KingRy’ acknowledged that those unfortunate comments he posted on his X account were made while he was drunk and high, something that is not unknown to anyone in the boxing world, but which is of greater importance given that he was punished precisely for having been found guilty of doping.

Garcia has his fight on May 2 against Rolly Romero in Times Square, New York, on a card that promises a lot of excitement, but true to his habit of being always in the eye of the hurricane, he relives for an unknown reason the delirious episodes of his well-known loose mouth and the excesses in which he has lived in recent months.

Garcia wants to show his best

The boxer wants to redeem himself, change his life and stop using drugs and alcohol, and he made this clear in a recent outing to speak to the media ahead of his next fight: “I’ve been working with my family in therapy, I’ve been in the spotlight for a long time, I’ve been at the wrong parties, in the wrong scene. I didn’t respect myself as an athlete, but that’s why I’m giving myself the best chance to be the best version of Ryan Garcia.”

“We were high on mushrooms”

When talking about the racist comments that caused a lot of controversy on his social media, Garcia acknowledged: “We were drunk, high on mushrooms, and we just started living life and started saying anything. I ended up saying stupid things live. I regret and lament those actions, but that does not represent me as a person.“

Ryan Garcia claims that he has already made changes and detoxified to find his form after a difficult year that he himself made even more complicated, after which, despite everything, he saw the light of a new opportunity that everyone hopes he will take advantage of and not fall back into excesses, both argumentative and his addictions.
