Ryan Garcia goes off on Donald Trump as he rescinds his support for the United States president

Boxer Ryan Garcia took to social media this weekend to say he is rescinding his past support for President Donald Trump, striking a markedly different tone from comments and posts he has made over the last year.

Garcia‘s remarks quickly drew attention well beyond the boxing world, given their timing and the language he used to explain his decision. Ryan wrote that he could no longer support anyone connected to Jeffrey Epstein and the crimes associated with him.

“Anyone that was involved in any thing to do with that island and what they were doing, I just can’t support in anyway. Children need to be protected, everyone knew better… Justice for all,” Garcia stated.

He followed up by calling on other public figures to speak out, arguing that new information leaves no room for silence. “Now that you see it’s real and happening I would like to see other celebrities speak up… You can’t call me crazy anymore. Speak up cowards,” he added.

The DOJ released Epstein documents

Garcia‘s posts came shortly after the release of millions of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, in which President Donald Trump is mentioned more than 1,000 times. The documents were released Friday after Trump initially resisted their disclosure.

While many of the references to the President are benign, others include newly disclosed, unverified sexual assault allegations and additional accounts from some of Epstein‘s victims describing interactions they said involved the future president.

It’s important to know that there’s no public evidence that any of the allegations against Trump contained in the documents were deemed credible by the FBI, and the Justice Department said Friday that the allegations against Trump in the files were false. The politician has long denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein or any allegation of sexual misconduct.

Garcia has seen enough

In his social media statements, Garcia framed the issue in moral and spiritual terms, repeatedly emphasizing the protection of children. “The devil has been going after babies and children since the beginning of time. It’s no different now,” he wrote, later adding, “Like Jesus said there’s nothing new under the sun. Protect the children.”

He also claimed that worse revelations could still emerge, asserting that the situation “gets ugly and deep,” though he did not provide evidence for those claims. The shift marks a sharp contrast from Garcia‘s previous public support for Trump. In May 2024, Ryan openly backed the politician after criminal charges were announced against the then former president.

He repeatedly described Trump as a friend and expressed unconditional support for his bid to return to the White House. On April 2024, Garcia posted “Trump is cool” alongside images from a visit to Trump‘s residence. He also shared a photo with Trump on social media on the same day Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records tied to a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Garcia‘s latest comments underscore his tendency to blend sports, politics and personal beliefs on social media, often generating controversy in the process. While his statements do not change the legal standing of any of the allegations referenced in the newly released Epstein documents, they add another high-profile athlete’s voice to the broader public reaction surrounding their release and the scrutiny of figures connected to Epstein‘s long history of abuse.
