Russell Wilson was tough on Brian Daboll, and his stint with the New York Giants has exploded

There’s no doubt that Russell Wilson has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, especially during his time with the Seattle Seahawks, where in 10 years he led them to the playoffs nine times, playing at a very high level. During that period, he won a Super Bowl in 2014 against Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos and came very close to defeating Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in another.

After leaving Seattle, Russell Wilson had a difficult stint with the Denver Broncos, where he struggled. He then spent a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, making the playoffs, and this year signed with the New York Giants. The expectation with Wilson was that his experience would help Jaxson Dart, but it turned into a disaster, especially in his last start against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The reality is that in that game, fans called for a quarterback change, even though in the previous game against the Dallas Cowboys, Wilson threw for 450 yards, 3 touchdowns, and came close to a win. However, against the Chiefs, he regressed, and the fans didn’t forgive him. From that moment, Brian Daboll decided to bench him.

Russell Wilson isn’t thinking about retirement

Today, Russell Wilson is going through a difficult time, especially mentally, because Giants fans don’t support him and he has lost his starting role. Next Sunday, Jaxson Dart will not play due to the concussion protocol, and interim head coach Mike Kafka announced that the starter against the Green Bay Packers will be Jameis Winston, with Wilson returning to a backup role.

Furthermore, Wilson might be experiencing a very unfair moment after being one of the NFL’s great quarterbacks. Some believe he should retire. However, looking back at last season with the Steelers, he recorded 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. Those are impressive numbers for someone who played only 11 games, including the playoffs.

Russell Wilson is not retiring and wants to be a starting quarterback in the NFL again. The quarterback stated: “Yes, I definitely want to be able to do that. And I definitely want to have that opportunity. I know what I’m capable of… I’m just looking forward to having the rest of a great day today. And I say that because that’s how I’ve always been. In the midst of amazing moments, I’ve always focused on the present moment. And in tough times, on the present moment. It’s really the faith part of me,” Wilson said, according to SNY Giants Videos.

For now, he will remain the Giants’ backup, behind Jameis Winston. He also mentioned that he loves his teammates and has never asked to be released by New York. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but so far, there has been no misconduct from the quarterback despite what he has been through.
