Russell Wilson reveals why he agreed to sign with the New York Giants

With Russell Wilson the Giants acquired an experienced quarterback for the upcoming National Football League (NFL) season. The veteran from the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed the main reason for his decision to sign with the New York franchise.

Wilson signed with New York this offseason and begins the summer as QB1 for his third franchise in as many years. The Giants brought in the veteran after the Daniel Jones era ended last season, hoping he could serve as a bridge to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Here’s how Russell Wilson performed with the Pittsburgh Steelers:

Russell Wilson is a 10-time Pro Bowler and has a Super Bowl ring with Seattle. He helped Pittsburgh reach the playoffs last season, when he threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdown passes and five interceptions and a 96.5 passer rating. However, Pittsburgh lost in the Wild Card Round to Baltimore.

The Steelers allowed Wilson to become a free agent, and he ended up joining a Giants team that appears to be at a crossroads. Both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are under pressure, and co-owner John Mara made it clear after the season that he expects marked improvement in all aspects.

What was the main reason Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants?

Wilson, 36, has shown flashes reminiscent of his prime with the Seattle Seahawks in recent seasons, but has clearly been in decline during his time with the Denver Broncos and, last season in the NFL, with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He signed with the Giants hoping to join a young offense on the right path and get a boost in the latter part of his career, specifically by pairing up with New York’s young star receiver, Malik Nabers. “I came here for him. That’s one of the main reasons,” Wilson said of Nabers from Fanatics Fest in New York City.
