Travis Hunter is one of the top prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft. Analysts expect the former Colorado Buffaloes star to be one of the top three picks on April 24; however, a recent decision by Hunter could dramatically affect his draft stock.
After a solid season with the Buffs, Hunter’s draft stock is the highest of any receiver or cornerback in this class. So far, the Colorado dual-threat is being targeted by the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, the second and third picks this year.
An unfortunate decision
Following the 2024-2025 NCAA season, little has been seen of the player. In a decision that was expected, but no less disappointing, he didn’t work out at the last NFL Scouting Combine. However, Hunter left more than a few scratching their heads when rumors said he would also skip Colorado’s Pro Day.
Hours before the expected day on which Hunter and his partner in crime, Shedeur Sanders, would show the media and scouts their physical condition ahead of the draft, NFL Media insider James Palmer reported that Hunter would not participate in the exhibition scheduled for April 4.
What made Hunter try to skip work?
Although there was no official reason, some fans pointed out that Hunter met with the Browns hours before Pro Day. “Browns had dinner with Travis Hunter now he’s not working out at his Pro Day, do with that information what will you,” said one user on X (formerly Twitter).
Ultimately, Hunter decided to join the rest of his teammates at the Buffs’ work out. Whether or not the rumors will impact his draft stock will be revealed in the coming days, and we will know the final outcome on April 24, in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
