AOakland Athletics rookie made history with home runs in MLB on July 25, 2025, something that was not done at the time by the Athletics rookies and home run hitters such as Cuban Jose Canseco and American Mark McGwire.

In addition, he tied a Major League Baseball feat that had been in place since 1900, 125 years ago, in the Athletics 15-3 victory over the Houston Astros.

Which Athletics rookie made MLB history and what is his feat?

Nick Kurtz made history by hitting four home runs in a game to become the first rookie and the first Athletics baseball player to do so, he also had 19 bases reached, becoming the second player since 1900 in MLB to achieve that feat.

Some other facts about Nick Kurtz’s historic night

Nick Kurtz was a triple short of hitting for the cycle, although he confessed: “We had a good lead. So, I pretty much told (third base coach Eric Martins) that if I hit the gap, I was going for three (bases).”

Going six-for-six, he became the first rookie in MLB history with a four-homer game, and the 20th player overall. With his 19 bases reached, he also tied Shawn Green in 2002 with the most in a game all-time, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
