Rondale Moore, 25, was found dead on February 21, 2026, in a garage in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana, authorities confirmed. The Floyd County Coroner’s Office stated that an autopsy has been scheduled and that the cause of death remains under investigation.
Police and local officials, including New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey, reported that Moore was discovered with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but official confirmation of the cause is still pending the results of the autopsy.

That year, he earned consensus All-American honors, won the prestigious Paul Warfield Trophy as the nation’s best wide receiver, and was named CBS Sports Freshman of the Year. His production was historic: 1,258 receiving yards, 213 rushing yards, and 14 total touchdowns. Expectations for his NFL future were high.
His dominance at Purdue made him one of the most promising young prospects in the country. In the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore was selected in the second round.
