Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have had an up-and-down start to the WNBA regular season. The team sits at 2-1 and holds the fifth-place spot overall after defeating the Atlanta Dream in their most recent game. Despite a quieter performance from Clark, she still earned praise from the outspoken Robert Griffin III.
Clark’s season debut was a mix of highs and lows-her dominant victory against the Chicago Sky and her third career triple-double were overshadowed by a flagrant foul on her rival, Angel Reese.
Days later, the Fever found themselves back in the headlines following a thrilling 91-90 loss to the Dream, where Clark posted 27 points. Their third game was a hard-fought 81-76 victory over Atlanta, with Clark delivering a more subdued performance-though one that Griffin praised enthusiastically.
RG3 is a Devoted Caitlin Clark Fan
After Indiana’s victory, Griffin took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his support.
“The Indiana Fever’s best player is their biggest star, Caitlin Clark,” he wrote. “She had 11 points today, and they still won the game.”
Griffin also highlighted the Fever’s improvement from last season, noting, “This Indiana Fever team is MUCH BETTER than last year’s team. Natasha Howard was a great addition-she can give you 20 on any given night.”
Howard led the charge for Indiana on Thursday, delivering 26 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Clark contributed 11 points, four rebounds, and six assists, but it was a collective effort that propelled Stephanie White’s squad to victory. Next, they face the New York Liberty on Saturday.
Griffin stands firm in his support for Clark
This isn’t the first time RG3 has publicly defended the former Iowa Hawkeyes star. After Clark’s controversial foul against Reese, Griffin took to social media to back her up-suggesting that it was Reese who harbored animosity toward Clark.
“Angel Reese HATES Caitlin Clark. Not just a basketball rivalry-hate,” Griffin wrote, sparking a social media frenzy that still hasn’t died down.
With Clark eager to bounce back in front of her home crowd after a quiet night on Thursday, RG3 will undoubtedly have more to say in the coming days.
