Real Madrid‘s 2010 generation, which looks set to be a very strong group with at least three players (Toni Garma, Rhys Robinson and Pablo Mera) who are expected to be key players in the future, continues to bring joy to the youth academy by winning the title in the prestigious U16 International Basketball Tournament in Villa de la Orotava.

Toni Garma, the latest prodigy from Real Madrid’s youth academy, showed his enormous potential in the semi-finals by scoring 31 points.

The 15-year-old, 1.97m Croatian shooting guard scored 31 points (5 of 8 two-pointers and 7 of 14 three-pointers), 6 rebounds and 4 steals for a PIR of 26 in 24 minutes in the semi-final, in which Real Madrid won 108-75 against Gran Canaria.

In that match, the Galician Pablo Mera (16 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for a rating of 28), Moussa Balla (10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals for a rating of 19), Rhys Robinson (12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists) and Airam Alonso (14 points) also stood out.

Rhys Robinson leads Madrid in final and takes MVP

In the final, Real Madrid won 86-68 against Orange1 Bassano with Gideon Silas (26 points, 24 rebounds and 7 blocks), with the media-savvy American Rhys Robinson as the leader.

Rhys Robinson, a versatile 1.97m, 15-year-old shooting guard who can play point guard thanks to his amazing court vision, led Madrid in the final with 24 points (7 of 11 on 2-point shooting, 3 of 8 from 3-point range and 1 of 2 free throws), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals for a PIR of 25.

Toni Garma (14 points with 2 of 12 in three-pointers), the always reliable and competitive Pablo Mera (18 points and 6 rebounds) and Moussa Balla (14 points and 14 rebounds for 28 PIR) supported the great game of Rhys Robinson.

Rhys Robinson has officially signed a multi-year contract with Real Madrid.

Rhys Robinson was named MVP of the Villa de la Orotava U16 International Basketball Tournament. Pablo Mera was chosen as the Most Electric Player of the final.

Who is Rhys Robinson, the young American prodigy who chose Real Madrid?

Rhys Robinson, who already played in the Future Stars Tournament in Zuera 2024 (Zaragoza), played in the Minicopa Endesa 2024 invited by Real Madrid.

“Rhys Robinson has officially signed a multi-year deal with Real Madrid… He opted to move to Real Madrid, rather than stay in Northern California,” reported Max Feldman in MADE Hoops in February 2024.

Rhys Robinson, who had finished his high school cycle with the Oakland Soldiers Blue, opted for the European route rather than finishing his school career in the United States and opting to continue his career in the NCAA.

In the 2024 Minicopa Endesa, he scored 13 points and nine rebounds in the final, which Barcelona won 89-78, and was selected in the Ideal Five along with MVP Mohamed Dabone (Barcelona), Pablo Mera (Real Madrid), August Moller (Unicaja) and Jan Cerdan (Barcelona).
