Caitlin Clark is back, and she made it crystal clear. The 23-year-old Indiana Fever star returned to the court in New York this week and snapped the New York Liberty‘s perfect 9-0 record. After missing almost a month due to a left quad injury, Clark returned with a statement performance that reminded everyone who’s in charge of the WNBA.

With 32 points-including 7 three-pointers-plus 9 assists and 8 rebounds, the Des Moines, Iowa native didn’t just lead her team to victory; she reaffirmed why she’s the face of the league.

Born and raised in Iowa, Clark became a global sensation during her time at the University of Iowa, where she became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer-men’s and women’s-with 3,951 points. That legacy led to her being selected No. 1 overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and since then, she’s been nothing short of a phenomenon.

Nicknamed the “Caitlin Clark Effect,” her arrival sparked a surge in attendance-Indiana broke the WNBA single-season attendance record in 2024 with 340,715 home fans-and merchandise sales skyrocketed 500%, according to ESPN. Her deep shooting range and elite court vision, often compared to Stephen Curry, have turned her into a global draw.

Caitlin Clark reclaims her throne

After her injury, fans and critics alike questioned whether Clark would return at the same level. Her performance against the Liberty-led by Breanna Stewart-answered that loud and clear. While it was a team effort, her season-opening triple-double and this 32-point showstopper sealed the deal, ending New York’s unbeaten run. Her $28 million, eight-year Nike deal only reinforces her status as the WNBA’s top star-a role she’s embraced with ease since leaving college.

This game marks a turning point. After a month on the sidelines, Clark didn’t just come back-she came back dominant, reminding everyone why she’s the queen of the WNBA. With her power to pack arenas and move audiences-the WNBA saw a 300% spike in viewership in 2024 thanks to her-this win in New York is just the beginning. The Fever and their fans know: with Caitlin leading the charge, the future is bright. And Clark is the Queen of the WNBA.
