Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are undeniably two of the greatest players in NBA history. Their playing style, achievements, and lasting legacy have left an indelible mark on the sport. Beyond their on-court records, they now share a historic milestone that cements their influence for generations to come.

This time, the record set by the two basketball legends comes off the court, sparking excitement among NBA fans. A historic trading card featuring both players’ autographs recently sold for a staggering sum, creating a milestone in the world of sports collectibles. The sale not only highlights the enduring legacy of Jordan and Bryant but also underscores the skyrocketing value of rare sports memorabilia in today’s market.

Buyer of the Historic Bryant and Jordan NBA Card

The legendary 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman card, featuring autographs of both players and jersey patches from both Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. The card was purchased by Canadian businessman Kevin O’Leary along with two partners, making the highest bid for the sports article.

“I don’t think this piece will come to market again during my lifetime,” O’Leary said, via CNBC, after obtaining the card. “I’m very proud to own it. I’ve been looking at this asset class now for three years. It’s an extraordinary return,” he declares.

What grabbed the most attention was the staggering price: O’Leary and his partners, from Spain and Miami, paid $12,932,000 for the card, surpassing the legendary 1982 Topps Mickey Mantle card and setting a new milestone in sports memorabilia.

Jordan and Bryant inspire a NFL coach

It’s undeniable that Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant made history through their dedication and commitment to their teams. Brian Schottenheimer of the Dallas Cowboys is drawing inspiration from their legacy to motivate his own squad.

“I remember Michael Jordan talking about practice all the time,” Schottenheimer said on August 11, highlighting how Jordan’s work ethic continues to inspire him as he motivates the Cowboys for the upcoming season.

“If you practice the right way, and then Kobe adopted it. You practice the right way and games are easy. So we can’t simulate a real game out here like basketball can,” Schottenheimer added, emphasizing how Bryant’s approach to preparation inspired his coaching philosophy.

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant will always be seen as true role models for athletes worldwide. Their legacy has inspired countless individuals in their pursuit of greatness, and now, with the most valuable and expensive sports card in history bearing their names, their impact on basketball and sports as a whole is undeniable.
