Daniel Riolo, the RMC Sport journalist who published an erroneous diagnosis on Mbappe’s knee, has insisted on RMC’s ‘After Foot’ program that his information is correct despite the Real Madrid forward denying that he was examined in Madrid on the wrong knee.
“The information that they examined the wrong knee is not true. With Real Madrid we have always had a very clear communication,” said Mbappe.

French journalist for Radio Monte Carlo first reported that Real Madrid’s medical service got the wrong knee and that this prompted the Real Madrid star’s departure to France to seek a second opinion
Daniel Riolo reaffirmed his version on ‘After Foot’: “There were high-level meetings. The information revealed in After Foot has been confirmed by everyone.”
“They adopted a strategy of lies… I’ll be blunt: he lied. I think it’s a strategy orchestrated with Real Madrid. Mbappe does not want to harm the interests of Real Madrid, which are completely ridiculous in this whole affair,” said the French journalist.
Daniel Riolo stressed that “I confirm the story of Mbappe 1000%”.
“He adopted a communication strategy based on lying and not telling the truth about this grotesque mistake of injuring the wrong knee. I don’t understand this strategy. Why not opt for sincerity? Instead of turning the page, they keep repeating the same story. Lying is never the right option,” he said.
Riolo said that “in Spain, the debate is now about who is really responsible, Real Madrid or Mbappe? This is going to backfire on him. In Spain, they are also wondering whether he will prioritise Real Madrid or the French national team.”

The RMC Sport journalist explained that “I think it’s Real Madrid who asked him to do it, because Madrid have hidden this information for a month and a half… Real Madrid have been humiliated. And Mbappe did not want to upset his club. They decided to lie and say that this information is false when everyone knows that it is true. It’s a strategy of lies. Honestly, I think it was an added humiliation to Madrid. Because if they had said: ‘OK, we were wrong’. And the doctor would have been sacked with a fit Mbappe.
