Real Madrid have announced the departure of Carlo Ancelotti as coach at the end of the current 2024-25 season. The club made it official days after Brazil announced his signing to coach the Selecao and as a prelude to a few days that will serve as a tribute to the most successful coach in the club’s history. The highlight will be this weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu, when Carletto will say goodbye during the Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad match. This will be his last of 353 matches in charge of Los Blancos.

As reported by MARCA, the club had planned to announce his departure after the match in Barcelona regardless of the result, as a prelude to his move to the Brazil national team, but the club decided at the last minute to change its mind. Finally, it was the other way around and the Canarinha got ahead of Real Madrid, leaving a somewhat surreal scene that Ancelotti in press conferences has managed as best he could

It is rare for a club or national team to announce a coach who is under contract and has not yet left his club. This is what has happened with Carletto, whose departure for Rio de Janeiro, where he plans to live, has been somewhat convoluted

After a tough season for the Spanish giants in which they only won theEuropean Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, Ancelotti leaves after a successful second spell that has seen him become the most successful coach in the club’s history, with the threeChampions League titles added to an already legendary record.

His replacement will be Xabi Alonso, whom he coached as a footballer, and who this weekend was given an honourable farewell by Leverkusen. The Basque will take on the most exciting challenge of his coaching career and the tough task of changing the image of a disappointing season at all levels for Madrid

An enviable resume

Ancelotti leaves Real Madrid with 15 titles, with the three Champions League titles standing out above all. Apart from the three European Cups, Carletto leaves with two Club World Cups, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, three European Super Cups, two Spanish Super Cups and one Intercontinental Cup

Now, in Brazil, he must face the challenge of leading the most successful and demanding team in history to its sixth World Cup, which has been the obsession of the Canarinha for 23 years. Carletto faces the challenge of becoming the greatest coach in the history of football

This is the official statement

Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement to end his time as coach of the club. The club would like to express its gratitude and affection to one of the great legends of Real Madrid and world football.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed the team in one of the most successful periods in its 123-year history and has become the most successful coach in the club’s history: 3 European Cups, 3 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 2 LaLiga titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles and 2 Spanish Super Cups. In total, 15 trophies during the six seasons in which he has been with the club.

For Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, “Carlo Ancelotti is now forever part of the great Real Madrid family. We are proud to have been able to enjoy a coach who has helped us to achieve so much success and who, moreover, has represented the values of our club in an exemplary manner”.

Tomorrow, the Santiago Bernabeu will pay tribute to him in what will be Carlo Ancelotti’s last game as Real Madrid coach. Real Madrid wishes him and his family the best of luck in this new stage of their lives.
