Rashee Rice is already causing “goosebumps” on Andy Reid’s coaching staff with the boost he’ll give to the Chiefs’ offense

Rashee Rice’s return after his six game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy has Chiefs fans, coaches and teammates excited.

Rice is set to make his season debut this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders and he’ll most likely just make the Chiefs even better.

Patrick Mahomes seems hyped for his comeback and Rice’s mentality is a key factor: “He’s going to want to be out there every single play. That’s the mentality that he has. It’s going to be our job, as teammates and coaches, to build him back the right way. But it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field, for sure.”

Count offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as another member of the Chiefs’ team who can’t wait to see Rice take the field.

“I half get goosebumps just thinking about when he goes out there and what he does to this offense. There is an excitement that you have – remember now he hasn’t played for a little while, so there is a little bit of some realness to it too,” Naggy said during his Thursday press conference.

Nagy only had compliments for Rashee’s growth and commitment.

“Rashee, his growth from rookie year to last year, unfortunately getting hurt to now, this year the word is just exciting, optimistic. The kid has done so much on and off the field to better himself, both as a person and a player. I think you feel that and see that with the love and friendship that these guys have internally. You see that [and] you feel it”.

Later on, he also talked about the great team that General Manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid have built and the depth at the wide receiver position.

“But that’s the beauty of what [G.M.] Brett Veach and [head] coach [Andy] Reid have done with the depth that we have in this offense. I think it’s been stated that there hasn’t been a whole lot of plays and games that the three of those guys (Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown) have played together, and now we get to do that.”

Before his ACL injury last season, Rice caught 24 passes for 288 yards with two touchdowns in just four games.
