As the Kansas City Chiefs reeled from their stunning defeat in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, one family member seemed to be moving on rather quickly: Randi Mahomes.
While the loss crushed the team’s hopes of a historic three-peat, Patrick Mahomes’ mother appeared unfazed, shifting her focus to music rather than the painful night in New Orleans.
Randi Mahomes’ MGK praise raises eyebrows
Shortly after the game ended, Randi took to X with a simple red heart emoji, summing up her reaction to the Chiefs’ tough night.
But it was her next post that raised eyebrows.
Hours later, she tweeted, “When MGK plays a song from my era!!!! While with my fam! Love it..”
This seemingly harmless praise for Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) wouldn’t usually be a big deal, except for one key detail.
Kendrick Lamar, who performed during the Super Bowl halftime show, has an unresolved feud with MGK that dates back to the rapper’s beef with Eminem.
Lamar once called out MGK, saying, “MGK needs to respect the greats,” after the Ohio rapper took shots at Eminem in his 2018 diss track “Rap Devil.”
While Lamar and MGK haven’t publicly reignited their rivalry in recent years, Randi’s public appreciation for MGK on the same night Lamar delivered one of the most talked-about halftime performances had some fans questioning her timing.
Adding to the conversation is the fact that Lamar’s halftime performance featured his Grammy-winning track “Not Like Us,” a diss aimed at Drake.
While the feud between Lamar and MGK is separate, some fans found it ironic that Randi, on a night when Lamar dominated the stage, chose to highlight her admiration for an artist he once dismissed.
Of course, it’s possible that Randi had no intention of stirring controversy and was simply enjoying the moment with her family.
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes had his own concerns, walking away from the game not only with a devastating loss but also missing out on a potential $1.5 million Super Bowl-winning bonus.
Beyond the music debate, Randi also made waves earlier in the weekend at the Fanatics Super Bowl party in New Orleans.
The 49-year-old turned heads at the high-profile event, mingling with sports and entertainment stars while rocking a glamorous silver blazer dress styled by Alex Cohen.
She shared highlights from the evening on Instagram, posting photos with her son Jackson Mahomes, daughter Mia Randall, and actress Emma Roberts.
“A night to remember at the @fanatics and @leighsteinberg party!”Randi captioned one of her posts.
“Grateful to share these moments with family and friends-because the best memories are made together!”
While Chiefs fans may still be processing the Super Bowl disappointment, Randi Mahomes seems to have already moved on, just maybe not in a way Kendrick Lamar fans appreciate.
