The injury, sustained during a Week 15 game against the San Francisco 49ers, did not deter Stafford from leading his team to the NFC Divisional Round.
Kelly Stafford shared the details on her podcast, The Morning After with Kelly Stafford & Hank, where she highlighted her husband’s determination and resilience. According to Kelly, Stafford endured the pain throughout the remainder of the season, exacerbating the injury during the Rams’ season-ending 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Matthew Stafford acknowledged dealing with a rib injury “for some time” after the Eagles game, but did not disclose the full extent of his condition. Kelly further revealed that Stafford maintained his usual routine, showing signs of discomfort only at home. His ability to perform under such challenging circumstances has drawn widespread admiration.

He performed while in pain
Despite his injury, Stafford played a crucial role in the Rams’ success, guiding them to ten wins and securing the NFC West title in 2024. He completed the season with 3,762 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. Head coach Sean McVay praised Stafford’s toughness and commitment, describing him as a warrior.
As Stafford’s season has now concluded, the 36-year-old veteran will have time to heal and reflect on his future. Known for his resilience and a standout career, which includes a Super Bowl LVI victory in February 2022, Stafford remains a pivotal figure in the Rams’ lineup.
Now his future is up in the air as his wife as also made public that this could be the last rodeo for him, as he is contemplating retirement, however there is still that fire in his eyes when he steps up to the field and many believe that he could return for another season once he is fully healed.
