The Las Vegas Raiders could be set to ditch interests in Deion and Shedeur Sanders by moving onto the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator as Tom Brady looks to make a major offer to Ben Johnson.
The Sanders have been linked to the Allegiant Stadium for months but interests may have cooled as the 47-year-old minority owner in the Nevadan organization looks to eye up the mastermind behind Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown’s performances.
The Lions, who are now into the NFC Divisional Game against the Washington Commanders, have scored an impressive 564 points throughout the 2024/25 NFL season to claim the NFC North ahead of the 14-3 Minnesota Vikings.

They also clinched their first NFC Conference berth in franchise history last season, with Johnson a huge part to play in that alongside the head coach Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator.
Now Brady, who also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wants to bring a slice of that pie to Sin City and according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he could be set to place quite a big stake to gamble on his odds.
“Let me go back to Ben Johnson though,” Rapoport said to The Insiders. “Ben Johnson sounds like he’d be a top candidate.
“In a lot of places the people who are associated with the Raiders job, I’m talking other candidates, I’m talking agents, people around the NFL, there does seem to be an acknowledgement that Ben Johnson is the leading candidate.
“And there’s a lot of people who think, frankly, that he is getting it [Raiders job]. It’s not done, they certainly have not the requirements that would allow them to hire a coach, and he’s not even allowed to be officially hired until the season’s done.”
Lions set for double whammy
Johnson has reportedly interviewed for posts with the Patriots, Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of his interview with the Raiders and in a double blow to the Lions, Glenn could also be set to depart from Ford Field.
The defensive coordinator helped the team allow just 342 points through 17 games but he has also spoken to the Bears, Jaguars, Raiders, New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. That could leave Campbell with a major rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 NFL season.
