Quinshon Judkins absent from Cleveland Browns training sessions; Shedeur Sanders is there but without any opportunities with the first team

The Cleveland Browns have officially entered their training camp phase ahead of the 2025 season, with their first practice already in the books as the team prepares over a 46-day stretch leading up to the regular season.

In this context, Kevin Stefanski was without several key players who could play a starring role for the team.

Notable absences at the Browns’ first practice

Beyond the battle for the starting quarterback position, there was significant interest in the absence of rookie Quinshon Judkins, who missed practice due to an ongoing legal situation in Florida following his arrest on charges of domestic violence and assault.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the issue for the first time, though he avoided delving into details, making it clear that the organization takes the matter very seriously.

“I would tell you again, this is something I take very seriously, we take very seriously,” he said. “It’s not something that we want to be a part of. We want to be shining the light on the good things that our guys are doing in this community. Having said that, I do know we go, the league mandates a certain amount of education in all areas, certainly in this area, and we decide to go above and beyond that and we will continue to do that. And if there’s more ways that we can reach players in any area in area of education, we’ll continue to look at that.”

On the other hand, several players started camp with specific medical designations that kept them out of the first day of practice. Wide receiverDavid Bell was on the active/non-football injury list, while defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. and quarterback Deshaun Watson were both on the active/physically unable to perform list. These absences were expected on Wednesday.

Jerome Ford was also absent, reportedly due to a minor injury, while tight end David Njoku and linebacker Jordan Hicks were excused for personal reasons.
