Quinn Ewers keeps getting bad news from Mike McDaniel

The Miami Dolphins, and particularly their head coach, Mike McDaniel, continue to play with fire. In their upcoming road game this Sunday, October 26, against the Atlanta Falcons, the much-criticized Tua Tagovailoa will once again take command of the offense.

In the Week 7 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Tua delivered another dismal performance. He was eventually benched, giving way to exas Longhorn product Quinn Ewers. The Dolphins’ backup quarterback had a modest showing during his limited time on the field.

Ewers completed 5 of 8 passes for 53 yards, while Tagovailoa’s outing was even worse despite playing longer. He went 12-for-23 for just 100 yards, disappointing numbers for Miami’s starting quarterback. Later in the week, a debate emerged from South Florida, suggesting another battle was brewing between Ewers and Zach Wilson for the backup role behind Tua.

However, things didn’t unfold in the rookie’s favor.

Another change in the Dolphins’ quarterback room

It was announced that for the matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Zach Wilson would serve as the team’s backup quarterback, effectively relegating Quinn Ewers to the third spot on the depth chart.

That means Ewers would only see the field if both Tagovailoa and Wilson suffered injuries during the game an unlikely scenario by any measure.

Bad news continues to pile up for Ewers, who recently believed he was on the verge of replacing Tua as Miami’s starter. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as he hoped, and for now, he’ll have to keep proving that his level of play surpasses that of his teammates.

Mike McDaniel keeps believing in Tagovailoa

No one, neither analysts, nor fans, nor any observer around the league, can understand why Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel continues to put his faith in Tua Tagovailoa. There is simply no evidence to justify it.

But evidently, McDaniel must be seeing something others can’t, and it’s that conviction that keeps him from pulling the trigger on a change at quarterback. If Tagovailoa fails to deliver another victory against Atlanta, both he and McDaniel are bound to face another wave of nationwide criticism.

Still, McDaniel has remained loyal to his quarterback, insisting that consistency and trust are essential for long-term success. His decision reflects not only stubbornness but also a deep belief that Tua can still lead this team back to contention.

Only on the afternoon of Sunday, October 26, will it become clear whether whatever McDaniel sees that no one else does will finally yield results or if the Dolphins’ patience with Tua Tagovailoa will prove to be their biggest mistake yet.
