In a recent interview, the young quarterback expressed confidence about his draft prospects. “I think I’m the best [in the class] and the most ready for the NFL because of what I’ve been through,” Ewers declared. Next Palmer or McCoy 2.0?
The latest episode of the Football With Friends podcast explored Ewers’ future. Analyst Cody Carpentier offered an intriguing prediction: “Is Quinn going to be a quarterback coach? I don’t think he’s going to be Tom Brady. I don’t think he’ll have a 20-year career. But I think you might get a decade out of it,” Carpentier speculated.
Instead of comparisons to Brady, Carpentier likened Ewers to Jordan Palmer, a former UTEP quarterback who struggled on the field but later thrived as a coach. Palmer now serves as the XFL’s Director of Quarterback Development.
Co-host Alex Dunlap viewed Ewers as more akin to Colt McCoy, the quarterback-turned-NBC Sports analyst. Dunlap remarked that Ewers shares McCoy’s ability to “get around a ball club and really know how to lead men.”
What’s in store for Ewers at the Draft?
Despite his obvious talent, most analysts predict Ewers will likely be a second-round pick, though some foresee him slipping into the fifth round. A popular prediction? Dak Prescott and the Cowboys might endorse him.
