Puka Nacua’s accuser drops restraining order, civil lawsuit still moves forward

The legal situation surrounding Puka Nacua has taken a notable turn, but not a definitive one.

The woman who accused the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver of misconduct has withdrawn her request for a restraining order, stepping back from one part of the legal fight even as the broader dispute remains active.

While that decision removes the immediate question of court-imposed restrictions on Nacua, it does not end the case or the scrutiny surrounding it.

According to filings and statements tied to the matter, the accuser’s legal team made clear the withdrawal was strategic rather than a retreat. The intent, as explained publicly, is to concentrate efforts on the civil lawsuit that was filed separately and continues to move forward.

Restraining orders and civil lawsuits operate on different legal tracks, with different standards of proof and outcomes. Dropping one does not invalidate or resolve the other, and in this case, the allegations at the center of the lawsuit remain unchanged.

The lawsuit stems from claims tied to a New Year’s Eve gathering in Los Angeles, where the accuser alleges Nacua engaged in inappropriate conduct, including biting incidents and offensive remarks.

As previously reported, those claims have been firmly denied by Nacua‘s legal representation, which has characterized the interaction as “horseplay” and pushed back strongly against the broader accusations.

Lawsuit continues despite procedural shift

The withdrawal of the restraining order petition may alter the optics of the case, but it does little to slow the legal process already underway.

Civil litigation often unfolds over months, if not longer, with both sides gathering evidence, conducting depositions, and preparing for potential trial or settlement discussions. In this instance, the lawsuit includes claims that could carry financial and reputational consequences for one of the NFL‘s rising stars.

Nacua, who has quickly developed into one of the league’s most productive receivers, is coming off a standout stretch that has elevated his profile across the NFL.

His emergence as a key offensive weapon for Los Angeles Rams has made the off-field allegations all the more visible, placing the situation under a brighter spotlight than it might otherwise receive.

At the same time, his legal team has not only denied wrongdoing but indicated a willingness to go on the offensive, suggesting potential counteraction in response to the claims.

For now, no criminal charges have been announced publicly, and the case remains within the civil court system. A previously scheduled hearing tied to the restraining order is no longer relevant following its withdrawal, but future court dates tied to the lawsuit are expected as the process unfolds.
