Puka Nacua is fed up with the Los Angeles Rams offense and screams at his teammates

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua might be leading one of the NFL‘s most productive offenses so far in the 2025 regular season, but he’s not satisfied at all.

The third-year player out of the BYU Cougars has slowly but surely become a vocal leader on the locker room and on the sidelines, which is something that the California team will need if they want to have another shot at a Super Bowl.

“Puka’s a competitor,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay. “He expects greatness – from himself and everyone else.” And every single time Puka takes the field, defenses brace for impact. He’s a walking headache for opponents – the kind of player you have to keep track of on every single snap.

Nacua is fed up with the offense

After LA’s 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday, the usually composed wide receiver was visibly frustrated with the team’s struggles to finish drives in the red zone. A video posted by the NFL showed Nacua sharing a few fiery words for his teammates during the game – a sign of just how hungry he is to see the offense reach its full potential.

“Hey, come here! We get the ball past the 30, we’re scoring touchdowns! No more of this field goal s***! We’re running two, we’re putting the offensive ball into our hands and we’re making plays, alright? I know we feel this s***! What the f*** are we doing? Strain that extra second, bro. We’re better than this! We get the ball inside, we wanna spike that s***, we wanna dance, earn the right to dance!” Nacua said.

And he has every reason to speak up. Despite ranking among the league’s top offenses – second only to the Dallas Cowboys in total yards – the Rams have left too many points on the field. Touchdowns have been hard to come by once they get inside the 20, and Nacua wants that to change fast.

Puka gets injured against the Ravens

Nacua‘s fire didn’t come without risk. The star wideout suffered an ankle sprain in the second quarter while diving for a pass in the end zone. He managed to return in the third, but McVay admitted the team played it safe from that point on.

“We were mindful of not pushing it too much,” McVay explained. “Given where we were in the game, the focus was just doing what we needed to win.” Thankfully, scans showed no long-term damage, and McVay said Nacua is day-to-day. His availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Jaguars in London remains uncertain, but the Rams are optimistic.

“Initially he felt pretty good today,” McVay said. “We’ll see how the week progresses.” Even while managing an injury, Nacua continues to be a major offensive weapon. Through six games, he’s racked up 54 receptions, 616 yards, and two touchdowns, putting him among the NFL‘s elite young receivers – and one of LA’s biggest red-zone threats alongside Davante Adams.
