Projections for Daniel Jones’ pay with the Indianapolis Colts; Dak Prescott could be surpassed

There’s no doubt that one of the biggest surprises this year is the Indianapolis Colts, who currently hold the best record in the NFL at 6-1. Just a few weeks before the season began, no one believed in them, especially after it was announced that Daniel Jones had become the team’s starting quarterback.

Last season, Daniel Jones was released by the New York Giants and signed for the final stretch of the season with the Minnesota Vikings, although he didn’t play there. During the preseason, Jones signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Colts to be Anthony Richardson’s backup, but through hard work, he earned the starting role.

When Shane Steichen named Daniel Jones the starter, criticism fell on the head coach. Since Andrew Luck’s surprising retirement in 2019, the Colts have gone through a carousel of quarterbacks, which fueled the skepticism over Jones. However, it has all worked out: the Duke product is now even considered an MVP candidate.

Projections for Daniel Jones’ Salary with the Colts

Since Week 1, Daniel Jones has delivered, emerging as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. The former Giants quarterback has thrown for 1,790 passing yards so far, with 10 passing touchdowns, only 3 interceptions, and 4 rushing touchdowns.

The Indianapolis Colts sit atop the AFC and appear to be in strong form heading toward the playoffs. Considering the many quarterbacks the team has had in recent years, Daniel Jones, at 28, seems to be the franchise’s future. Speculation is already swirling about how much he will be paid this season or at its conclusion.

According to MLFootball on X, Daniel Jones could currently become the 10th highest-paid quarterback in the NFL with a four-year, $51 million deal. However, if his performance continues at this level, that contract could change significantly in the coming weeks. What’s certain is that the Colts appear to have found their quarterback.

The highest-paid quarterback in the NFL is Dak Prescott, averaging $60 million per year, followed by Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, and Jordan Love at $55 million. If Daniel Jones keeps up this pace, the Colts’ quarterback could soon join this elite group.
