Princess Charlotte steals the show at UEFA Final with Prince William: Royal surprise wows fans in Switzerland

Princess Charlotte made headlines with a surprise royal appearance that delighted fans at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final in Basel, Switzerland. The 10-year-old joined her father, Prince William, for a fun-filled Sunday supporting England’s Lionesses – and it marked her first-ever overseas soccer match.

Dressed for the occasion and smiling beside her dad, Charlotte looked every bit the young royal soccer fan as she cheered from the stands at St. Jakob-Park.

Prince William, 43, appeared in his role as patron of the Football Association, leading the royal show of support for the English women’s squad as they fought for their second straight European championship title – having previously taken the crown in 2022.

The royal father-daughter duo’s outing wasn’t just a family bonding moment – it was a surprise treat for royal watchers and sports fans alike. While it was confirmed on July 23 that William would attend the final, no one expected Charlotte to join, making her appearance all the more exciting.

The Princess and her brothers are on vacation

Prince William has long been a passionate soccer supporter. He previously visited the Lionesses at St. George’s Park before the tournament began and traveled to Switzerland earlier this month for England’s high-stakes match against the Netherlands on July 9.

This rare summer public appearance falls during the royal family’s unofficial break while Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, 7, are on school holidays.

William and Princess Kate traditionally scale back their schedules during this time to focus on family – and this soccer match was the perfect opportunity for father-daughter bonding. Even King Charles follows a similar pattern, stepping back from public duties to rest before autumn.

Wimbledon also received a visit from the royal family

Earlier this month, the Prince and Princess of Wales also brought George and Charlotte to Wimbledon, where the kids enjoyed front-row seats at the gentlemen’s singles final in the Royal Box.

Charlotte and William have previously shown their support for England’s women’s team by sending joint video messages wishing the squad luck before big games. But this time, Charlotte didn’t just send a message – she made a royal entrance.

With the young Princess already showing a growing love for sports, fans can expect to see more of her at future high-profile events – and she’s quickly becoming a crowd favorite.
