Power surge! Yankees make history with second three-HR game in a season

After a shaky start to the series against the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Yankees responded with an offensive display that is already etched in Major League Baseball history. In their second game at Camden Yards, the New Yorkers crushed the Orioles 15-3 with a home run explosion, reaffirming their lead in the American League East.

The onslaught began with back-to-back home runs from Trent Grisham, Aaron Judge and Ben Rice, followed by another from Cody Bellinger. This was not an isolated performance: the Yankees had already achieved an identical sequence exactly one month earlier, on March 29, against the Milwaukee Brewers. They became the first team in MLB history to open two different games with three consecutive home runs.

Unprecedented record: two historic starts in a single month

The game in Baltimore replicated what happened at Yankee Stadium at the beginning of the season, when Goldschmidt, Bellinger and Judge hit home runs in the first three at-bats against Nestor Cortes. Then, Austin Wells added another to close a historic first inning. In both games, the Yankees hit five home runs in the first two innings, something no other franchise had accomplished twice in the same campaign.

At Camden Yards, the damage was similar. After the first three home runs and Bellinger’s hit, Rice took it out of the park again in the second inning. By the fifth inning, the score was already 12-0. In total, six home runs capped a night that not only erased Monday’s loss, but also reaffirmed the Yankees’ label as the most feared offense in baseball today.

A deep lineup that commands respect

What is impressive is not only the power at bat, but also the consistency of a lineup that is capable of igniting from the first pitch. Between the two games, six home runs came before the third inning and all off starting pitchers, demonstrating an aggressive, effective and planned approach from the dugout.

In addition, every detail adds to its historical narrative: Grisham’s home run was the 133rd to reach Eutaw Street at Camden Yards, and Rice already has eight on the season, cementing himself as a key piece in the offense. With leaders like Judge, Bellinger and Goldschmidt accompanying him, the Yankees seem to be just beginning their assault on the 2025 records.
