After the terrible news about a man being killed at a Florida golf course on Monday, authorities reported that a suspect is in custody and his name is Junior Boucher. The 36-year-old faces first-degree murder charges
The man that died was identified by police as Brian Hiltebeitel, at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in West Palm Beach, and witness said he heard the victim scream “he’s trying to kill me” as he ran from Boucher, who was allegedly brandishing a golf club, according to a Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.
Boucher allegedly began hitting Hiltebeitel in the head with the golf club, and then chased him into a pond on the first hole of the golf course. The Police has also were very clear about the reason behind the attacks.
The reason has left the people scared
While many thought that the alleged killer knew his victim, it appears it was simply a rando act of violence, at least from what the same Palm Beach Gardens Police Department told the media.
“At this time, it does not appear that Boucher had any legitimate purpose for being at the golf course,” Chief Dominick Pape told reporters on Tuesday. “This appears to be a random act of violence where Boucher used the victim’s golf clubs as weapons and viciously attacked the victim, ultimately killing him.”
He allegedly continued to hit Hiltebeitel in the pond and, while in the water, “jumped on top of Hiltebeitel and appeared to be strangling him,” the police report states. After Hiltebeitel was no longer moving, Boucher allegedly hit him several more times in the head, police said in the affidavit.
Boucher attempted to flee the scene when officers arrived, according to the affidavit, and was taken into custody “only after the use of an electronically controlled weapon.”
