Police have released the 911 call made by Kadarius Toney’s girlfriend, in which she accuses the NFL wide receiver of physically attacking her while she was holding her child.
The woman, who is seven months pregnant, told dispatchers that Toney “put his hands on me” during the alleged incident at their home in Douglasville, Georgia.
Disturbing details from the 911 call
The call, which was obtained by TMZ, was placed at 12:01 p.m. on January 14. The woman told the dispatcher that she had fled to a neighbor’s house barefoot after the alleged assault. When asked if she needed medical attention, she declined, stating she did not feel contractions or any immediate distress.
According to the police report, Toney allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s neck, leaving visible red marks and causing petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. The report also states that Toney took her cellphone to prevent her from calling 911.
Legal consequences and possible prison time
An arrest warrant for Toney was issued on January 15, and he was taken into custody on February 6 in Douglas County. He was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation and obstruction of a 911 call-both serious offenses in Georgia.
Court records show that Toney was granted a $25,000 bond for each charge and was released from custody by February 7. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for the felony assault charge.
Toney’s NFL career and recent struggles
Kadarius Toney was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and later traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He played a key role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, setting a record with a 65-yard punt return.
However, his career has been on a downward trajectory. In 2024, he played three games with the Cleveland Browns before being released on December 10. This latest legal trouble casts further doubt on his future in the NFL.
