On the night of Monday, September 15, 2025, the tears of a pitcher’s father were caught after he made history in his Major League debut.

This was in the game between the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2025MLB season.

Trey Yesavage’s father wiped away tears after his son set a record with the Toronto Blue Jays with nine strikeouts in his Major League Baseball debut.

Trey Yesavage made his MLB debut and joined the electrifying group of rookie pitchers who have recently debuted with an exceptional start. He pitched five innings with nine strikeouts while allowing only one earned run. His unusual high release point baffled Tampa Bay Rays hitters and his splitter was impressive.

Trey Yesavage left the game in the sixth inning with the Toronto Blue Jays trailing by one run. But the Toronto Blue Jays came back to beat the Tampa Bay Rays two runs to one in eleven innings.

“It was as special as I thought it would be. It was almost like there was some kind of trance over me with a feeling of peace out there. I enjoyed every moment,” Trey Yesavage told MLB.com.
