Photographer kicked out of US Open defends himself: “I’m the victim, I plead not guilty”

One of the most memorable images of this year’s US Open is that ofSelcuk Acar, the photographer who entered the court on Sunday night when Benjamin Bonzi was about to serve a second serve with match point against Daniil Medvedev

Medvedev went crazy when the chair umpire, Greg Allensworth, again awarded his opponent a first serve. The show came afterwards. The consequences of all the commotion were paid by the photographer, who was invited to leave the Billie Jean King Tennis Center without his credential and escorted out

“I am a victim and I plead not guilty,” Acar said, as reported by the British press. He accuses the tournament security of inviting him into the facility without any problem

Contradictory version

The USTA, through its communications team, also gave its version of events: “She had been instructed not to enter and ignored them.”
