Philadelphia Eagles reportedly circle Brian Daboll after Giants exit

Brian Daboll has never been the type to fade into the background, but that’s exactly what he has done since the New York Giants let him go. Instead of holding a press conference or firing off a statement, the 50-year-old former coach has chosen a softer landing: family life, downtime, and a break from the nonstop NFL spotlight.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Daboll has been busy doing everyday things. He’s been celebrating his daughter’s birthday, handling school runs, and ferrying his kids to their sports and hobbies. When Russini reached out for an interview about his Giants tenure, Daboll politely declined, and the background noise of family life said more than he did.

His quiet approach stands in sharp contrast to the tension that filled his final weeks in New York. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that several people inside the organization pointed to emotional outbursts as a factor in his dismissal. One instance involved Daboll snapping at team physician Dr. Scott Rodeo during an evaluation of quarterback Jaxson Dart after a hit from Eagles linebacker Patrick Johnson.

Some have floated the idea of him as the future offensive coordinator for the Eagles or the Texans… There’s no doubt that he’ll be back

The Giants’ struggles didn’t help either. During his nearly four seasons, Daboll went 20-40-1, including another frustrating 2-8 start and four blown fourth-quarter leads in 2025.

A new chase begins: Rival teams eye Daboll’s next move

The Giants may be moving forward with Mike Kafka, but Daboll isn’t fading from the league’s radar. In fact, interest in him is building fast.

One of the most surprising scenarios involves the Philadelphia Eagles, a franchise valued at around $8.3 billion. Reports have connected Daboll to a potential role on their offensive staff, especially if current coordinator Kevin Patullo can’t spark improvement. Philadelphia’s passing attack has been flat at 191.7 yards per game with only 16 receiving touchdowns.

There’s also history that makes the connection compelling. Daboll coached Jalen Hurts during Alabama’s 2017 national championship season and worked with Tua Tagovailoa as well. If the Eagles want a fresh voice for their offense, Daboll fits the profile.

And Philadelphia isn’t alone. The Houston Texans have been floated as a possible landing spot for him as an offensive coordinator. Even Penn State has reportedly shown interest as the school explores head coaching options.

With opportunities lining up across both the NFL and top college programs, Daboll’s quiet days may be numbered. The only question now is where he’ll choose to reappear.
