Philadelphia Eagles players are sick and tired of Tush Push criticism: “Pisses me off”

The sport of football is constantly changing. Every couple of years, the game seems to shift in favor of certain offensive and defensive schemes and plays. But there’s one play that has dominated the conversation for far too long, and it’s because no one can stop it or replicate it.

The “Tush Push“, sometimes called the “Brotherly Shove“, remains a point of contention in NFL circles to this day. The Philadelphia Eagles, with Jalen Hurts at the helm, have benefited greatly from the play over the past few seasons. It has been so successful that several NFL franchises have tried to get the play banned several times now. In Week 2, the discourse was amplified once again.

This time around, the play became contentious due to a couple of occasions where the Eagles guards appeared to get an early jump before the ball was snapped. It wasn’t called a single time. The Kansas City Chiefs, who were on the losing end, weren’t thrilled with what happened. And neither are casual football fans.

Jordan Mailata hates that his teammates don’t get credit because of the Tush Push

The criticism for the play has largely gone ignored by Eagles players and coaches, but left tackle Jordan Mailata has had enough of it. Mailata spoke in a radio interview on Tuesday and strongly vented, due to Philadelphia not getting praised for winning the game on other merits.

I understand the outrage. What I don’t understand is them using [the Tush Push] as an excuse to why we won the game. I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to our defense and our special teams who balled out… That pisses me off because we give so much to this game and to kind of base off a short-yardage play, that is a football play… You know I think it’s bullcrap. I just think it’s rubbish. Absolute rubbish, man. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it.

Mailata’s annoyance stems from his teammates not being lauded despite making winning plays that have nothing to do with the Tush Push.
