Philadelphia Eagles’ Nick Sirianni trolled by fans for incident vs Buffalo Bills

Nick Sirianni became the target of online trolling after Philadelphia‘s narrow win over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, with fans focusing less on the result and more on an early celebration that quickly went viral.

Philadelphia escaped Orchard Park with a 13-12 victory last Sunday, a gritty road win in poor weather that reinforced their playoff credentials yet also sparked debate about the optics on the sideline.

The flashpoint came early, when Saquon Barkley scored the game’s opening touchdown, prompting Sirianni and offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo to erupt with enthusiasm in the first quarter at Highmark Stadium.

The animated reaction, captured on the broadcast, spread quickly online, where some viewers questioned whether the moment matched the significance of a Week 17 score – especially as it was the opening score of the game with plenty of football left to play.

“Did Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo win the Super Bowl or score in Wk17 to go up 7-0. You decide,” asked Shayne L. Marsaw on X.com.

While the Eagles ultimately secured the win, social media reaction was split, with critics calling the celebration excessive, while supporters argued emotion is part of the sport.

One fan defended the moment by writing, “Eagles won the game. As a lifelong Eagles fan, I’m stoked. They beat a pretty good Bills team, in their stadium, with terrible weather. Feels like the Eagles are on the up and up heading into the playoffs.”

Others were less forgiving, as another user responded, “Nick Sirianni is an EMBARRASSMENT to the Eagles. An all-time great franchise, being stained by an immature head coach.”

A third comment leaned into sarcasm, adding, “Kevin Patullo when Saquon runs twice on first and second down for -4 yards,” keeping the online pile-on rolling.

Despite the noise, the Eagles quietly continued a strong season, clinching the NFC East ahead of the Dallas Cowboys for a second straight year and preparing to close the regular season against the Washington Commanders.

Since taking over in 2021, Sirianni has led Philadelphia to the NFL Playoffs every year, guiding stars like Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith through deep postseason runs – including winning Super Bowl LIX over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sirianni refuses to apologise to Bills fans

Sirianni also made it clear after the game that he had no intention of apologizing for how the Eagles handled their road win in Buffalo and the reigning NFL MVP, even if it lacked polish and swagger on December 28.

Philadelphia entered Week 17 already locked into a top-four NFC seed, yet offensive inconsistency again surfaced as the Eagles managed only 13 points against a tough Bills defense and wintry conditions.

Rather than dwell solely on flaws, the head coach emphasized perspective, choosing to frame the victory as a positive building block during a demanding stretch of the season as the Eagles look to hold on to their champion status.

“You’ve got to give yourself points when you win,” Sirianni said. “When you win football games, there’s always things to clean up when you come out of a football game.”

“But if you come out of a football game where you win on the road in a hostile environment – man, they’ve got really good fans – against a really good football team that’s had the sustained success that we have.

“If you come out of this and you’re just thinking about all the negative things that happened, that makes for a miserable existence. We’ll get there. We’ll get to what we need to clean up.

“And you know, really good first half by the offense, not a great second half, and a lot of different reasons why. Winning is hard in this league.

“And I’m always going to enjoy a win, and then I’m going to be really hyper-critical on myself first and foremost, and then the rest of the guys after that, and the coaches. So, yeah, you feel great.”

The Eagles secured a big win over a potential Super Bowl contender and proved that while they boast impressive offensive weapons in the form of Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert, they can also win the ugly, nitty-gritty games too.
