Philadelphia Eagles hilariously troll NFL after Tush Push survives ban

The Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time celebrating after the NFL officially decided not to ban the “Tush Push” move for the upcoming 2025/26 season, surviving an outlaw of Jalen Hurts‘ big play by just two votes.

The short-yardage quarterback sneak, made famous and highly effective by the Eagles, had been the center of heated debate in league circles, with some teams calling for its removal from the game entirely.

At the forefront of the push to eliminate the play was the Green Bay Packers, who introduced a proposal to outlaw it during the annual NFL meetings in Minnesota, but despite their efforts, the motion fell fractionally short.

With the Tush Push surviving league scrutiny, the Eagles turned to social media to respond by mocking the failed attempt with a series of posts aimed at their critics, and in particular, the Packers.

Following the decision, the Eagles released a 26-minute video compilation showcasing successful Tush Push executions from the 2024 season.

The footage included key moments from games against the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Washington Commanders, illustrating the play’s effectiveness and the team’s mastery of its execution on the football field.

The video was more than just a highlight reel-it was a pointed statement. Among the clips was a Tush Push from Super Bowl LIX, where Philadelphia opened the scoring against the Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome en route to a 40-22 victory. The message was clear: the play works, and it’s here to stay.

Another post simply read, “Push On,” paired with an image of the Eagles preparing to run the play against the Packers, the very team that had spearheaded the failed ban.

Other posts included phrases like, “Marked Safe From The Tush Push Ban Today,” and the humorous, “Ok ima fight The Tush Push… Damn Tush Push got hands.”

And perhaps the most pointed jab came in the form of a video clip showing quarterback Jalen Hurts reacting with indifference to a series of events, until finally cracking a smile upon hearing the news that the Tush Push survived.

Which teams voted against banning the Tush Push?

Philadelphia has used the Tush Push with unmatched consistency, and the play has become emblematic of their physical, no-nonsense approach to short-yardage situations, as well as a vital weapon to score points with.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, considered the NFL’s lead insider, ten teams voted against banning the play.

Those opposing the motion included the Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans.

Look to these teams to potentially use the tactic in the 2025/26 NFL season, which begins on Thursday, September 4.
