“Philadelphia Eagles got worse from last year to this year,” says NFL analyst Ben Solak

It’s not exactly that after having touched the sky after winning the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, thePhiladelphia Eagles are going downhill ahead of the new NFL season, but they are going to face complications, as compared to their roster last year there are substantial changes that will affect their performance.

This is the view of analyst Ben Solak, who wrote recently on ESPN his prospects for the upcoming season around teams and some specific figures, a report in which he highlighted his ‘prediction‘ for the winners of the Vince Lombardi trophy.

The expected Super Bowl champion ‘hangover’

Solak explained the implications of the offseason moves made by the reigning NFL champions, who he believes had the deepest team in the entire league, as they even had stellar backups for some positions, something that allowed them to deal with specific injuries to their starters

Solak claims that the team got worse based on the previous year, but this should not be too much of a concern: “It’s not particularly revolutionary to say that the Super Bowl champion is going to have a hangover, but boy did the Eagles lose a lot of talent,” he said.

And so he continued: “Indeed, 2024’s defensive snaps are already available, with defensive linemen Milton Williams, Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham, and defensive backs C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers. Sure, they have young players waiting in the wings, but I foresee a tricky start as they clear out,” Solak said.

A tough start for the Eagles

The analyst highlighted what appears to be a very bumpy and rocky start for the NFC champions, who will face the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos in their opening games

However, Solak’s analysis entails an implicit confidence in the Eagles, who should have no problem dealing with this scenario, as they have enough arguments to come out on top and prove once again that they are the team to beat in this new season.
