Caitlin Clark isn’t just changing the WNBA – she’s coming for the NBA, too.
The Indiana Fever rookie sensation is rewriting the rules of basketball stardom, and the latest proof is in the jersey sales.
According to Fanatics, Clark now owns the second-best-selling basketball jersey across the entire sport, trailing only Golden State Warriors icon Stephen Curry. In doing so, she’s leapt ahead of heavyweights like LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, and even Michael Jordan.
Clark‘s meteoric rise began with a national title run for Iowa in 2023 and a second appearance in the 2024 championship game. But her real stardom exploded after she was selected No. 1 overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft – a move that has sparked a tidal wave of interest in both the team and the league.
Clark’s record-breaking popularity sets new WNBA standard
Clark’s jersey is the only WNBA one featured in the top 10 of overall basketball jersey sales. Her arrival has already transformed the Fever, leading them to their first playoff appearance since 2016, and earning her Rookie of the Year, All-WNBA First Team, and league-leading assist honors.
With 41 of the Fever‘s 44 games nationally televised in 2025 – a WNBA record – Clark‘s exposure is set to reach even greater heights. That means more fans, more coverage, and almost certainly, even more jersey sales. Curry might not be looking over his shoulder yet, but he probably should be.
The only real threat to Clark‘s dominance in WNBA popularity might come from Paige Bueckers, the 2025 No. 1 pick, fresh off a title with UConn. Drafted by the Dallas Wings, Bueckers and Clark will meet for the first time in the pros on June 27, in what’s already shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the season.
For now, though, Caitlin Clark is doing what once seemed impossible – dethroning basketball’s royalty, one sold-out jersey at a time.
